- «Порезал руку» — cut his hand (cut — cut — cut, форма не меняется); «большой палец (руки)» — thumb [θʌm]; «болит» — hurts badly: He cut his hand and his thumb hurts badly.
- «Несмотря ни на что» — in spite of everything: The boy decided to become a mountaineer in spite of everything. Decided to — прошедшее время.
- «На волосок от гибели» — within an inch of death: The tourists were within an inch of death when crossing the mountain river.
- «Разразиться (об эпидемии)» — break out; «продолжаться до» — last until: The epidemic broke out in winter and lasted until spring.
- «Хрипота» — hoarseness [ˈhɔːsnəs]; «чихание» — sneezing; «насморк» — runny nose; «симптомы» — symptoms: Hoarseness, sneezing and a runny nose are typical symptoms of a cold. Подлежащее — перечисление, значит are.
