If — «если» (условие, может быть, а может и не быть); when — «когда» (событие точно произойдёт); unless — «если не» (= if not).
- Дождь — возможное, а не обязательное событие: If it rains, we will go see the sights... (иначе пойдём гулять).
- Холодает всегда, осенью листья падают закономерно: When the weather gets colder.
- I wouldn't ride … if I were you — устойчивый оборот «на твоём месте»: if.
- Sara is always late unless she walks — «всегда опаздывает, если не идёт пешком»: unless.
- «Нам нельзя в кино, если мы не уберём комнаты»: unless.
- If she exercised more, she would be healthier — второй тип: If.
