— короткие прилагательные (tall, old): сравнительная степень + -er (taller, older) и than; превосходная — the + -est (the tallest, the oldest);
— funny → funnier / the funniest (y меняется на i);
— длинные прилагательные (helpful, patient): more … than и the most …;
— наречие well (dance well): better than, the best (исключение, формы не по правилу).

- Cathy is more helpful than Sue, and Sue is more helpful than Alice. Cathy is the most helpful.
- Sue is more patient than Cathy, and Cathy is more patient than Alice. Sue is the most patient.
- Alice dances better than Cathy, and Cathy dances better than Sue. Alice dances the best.
