Решение

Глаголы чувств, мыслей и отношения (see, hear, know, think, believe, understand, remember, like, prefer) — глаголы состояния, их не употребляют в Continuous. Глаголы действия (look for, play, melt) употребляют в Continuous, если действие происходит прямо сейчас.

A: see — глагол чувства с can, поэтому Can you see. B: hear — I can hear; play — действие идёт сейчас, поэтому They're playing.
A: look for — действие, поэтому I'm looking. think — мнение, поэтому I think.
A: know — состояние, поэтому Do you know. B: I know; remember — состояние, поэтому I don't remember.
A: believe — состояние, поэтому I don't believe. B: understand — состояние, поэтому I don't understand; melt — процесс идёт сейчас, поэтому are melting.
A: like — состояние, поэтому Do you like. B: I don't like; prefer — состояние, поэтому I prefer.

💡 Почему так

Глаголы состояния (чувства, мысли, эмоции) не употребляются в Continuous, только в Simple. Действия, которые происходят сейчас, ставятся в Continuous.
