Решение
По правилу согласования времён глагол главного предложения ставим в Past Simple, а в придаточном will меняем на would.
- am → was, will be → would be: I was afraid I would be late.
- do → did, will pick → would pick: Did you think we would pick all the apples in three days?
- hopes → hoped, will visit → would visit: He hoped you would often visit him.
- expect → expected, will be → would be: They expected he would be at home in a few days.
- are not → were not, will arrive → would arrive: We were not sure he would arrive at our party.
- promises → promised, will finish → would finish: She promised that she would finish the work in a week.
- think → thought, will help → would help: I thought Henry would help us.
- hope → hoped, we'll → we would (we'd): I hoped we would enjoy the show.
- expects → expected, he'll → he would (he'd): She expected he would win the race.
💡 Почему так
Если глагол главного предложения стоит в прошедшем времени, в придаточном будущее время (will) заменяется на «будущее в прошедшем» (would + глагол).
