Решение
Короткие прилагательные (один слог): добавляем -er: long — longer, slow — slower, young — younger, cheap — cheaper, cold — colder, high — higher.
Слова с одной гласной и одной согласной на конце удваивают согласную: big — bigger, fat — fatter, bad — worse (исключение).
Прилагательные на -y меняют y на i и добавляют -er: pretty — prettier, lazy — lazier.
Длинные прилагательные (два и более слога): more + прилагательное: expensive, popular, modern, comfortable, difficult, dangerous.

Сравнительная степень: короткие прилагательные — окончание -er, длинные — more. Исключения: good — better, bad — worse.
