Краткий ответ повторяет глагол из вопроса (was или were). Подлежащее заменяем местоимением: the trains → they, the cat → it, the restaurant → it. В предложениях с there пишем there.

- Вопрос со словом Was, подлежащее the cat → it. Ответ положительный: Yes, it was.
