Reading. a) Read the title of the text. Think of six words you expect to read. Listen, read and check.
b) Interview your partner as Tony Smith about his neighbourhood.
a) Заголовок текста — «My neighbourhood» («Мой район»). По нему можно ожидать слова о местах в районе: shop, café, bank, post office, supermarket, library. Читаем текст и проверяем: все шесть слов в нём есть («a lot of shops and cafés», «a post office right next to the bank», «a supermarket», «a library»).
b) Один ученик задаёт вопросы, второй отвечает как Tony Smith, опираясь на текст.
- Where do you live? — I live in a beautiful neighbourhood.
- Are there any shops and cafés? — Yes, there are a lot of shops and cafés around here.
- Where's the post office? — It's right next to the bank.
- What's opposite the bank? — The newsagent's is opposite the bank.
- Where's the supermarket? — It's opposite the post office.
- What's behind the supermarket? — There's a bus station behind the supermarket.
- Where's the chemist's? — It's next to the bus station.
- Is there a library? — Yes, there is. It's behind the chemist's.
- What's opposite the chemist's? — My favourite coffee shop is opposite the chemist's.
- Do you like your neighbourhood? — Yes, I like my neighbourhood a lot!
Для описания места используем there is / there are и предлоги: next to (рядом), opposite (напротив), behind (позади), right next to (вплотную к).
a) shop, café, bank, post office, supermarket, library (все слова есть в тексте).
b) Интервью (вопросы и ответы) составлено выше: Where do you live? — I live in a beautiful neighbourhood. Where's the post office? — It's right next to the bank. И так далее по тексту.
Writing (a description of your neighbourhood). Portfolio: Draw a street map of your neighbourhood and label the buildings. Then write a short paragraph describing it. Use Ex. 3 as a model.
План:
- Нарисуйте на листе улицу и подпишите здания: school, park, supermarket, bank, café, library, bus stop.
- Начните с общей фразы: I live in ...
- Опишите расположение зданий с there is / there are и предлогами next to, opposite, behind.
- Закончите оценкой: I like my neighbourhood a lot!
