Решение
Выбираем форму по правилу:
- после предлога to стоит местоимение в объектном падеже (me, us, them);
- перед существительным стоит притяжательное местоимение (my, our, their, his, its, your);
- без существительного, в конце предложения, стоит абсолютная форма (mine, ours, theirs, yours).
- The textbook belongs to me. This is my textbook. The textbook is mine.
- The printer belongs to us. This is our printer. The printer is ours.
- The house belongs to them. This is their house. The house is theirs.
- Don't take his dictionary. Take mine (= my dictionary, существительного нет).
- Don't tell her the news (кому? — её, объектный падеж).
- This is my atlas. Yours atlas — нет: перед существительным atlas нужна основная форма, поэтому Your atlas is over there.
- This pencil is mine. The other one is yours.
- My cat plays with its kittens (перед существительным).
- I have got a pet. Its name is Barsik. It's a kitten (it is). It's black (it is). And its eyes are blue.
💡 Почему так
Me, us, them — объектные формы (после глагола или предлога). My, our, their, his, its, your стоят перед существительным. Mine, ours, theirs, yours, hers стоят без существительного. It's — сокращение от it is, а its — «его/её» (о животном или предмете).
