When you finish writing your story, edit it. Check for:
• formatting (Is there a beginning, main body paragraphs and a concluding paragraph?);
• well-structured paragraphs (Do the sentences make sense? Have you used linking words to show the sequence of events?);
• elements of narrative style (Have you used a variety of adjectives/adverbs or do you repeat the same ones?);
• misspelling, wrong grammar, incorrect punctuation.

A Walk to Remember
Last autumn, my friend and I went for a walk in the woods near our town. It was beginning to rain. While we were walking along a path, I heard someone calling for help. We stopped and listened. The voice came from the river. We followed it and saw a little boy standing alone near the water. He was shaking and said he could not find his parents. I gave him my jacket, and my friend called the police. Then we took him to a safe place and waited. Soon his parents arrived. They hugged him and thanked us. That evening I felt relieved and proud that we had helped him in time.
