- Фильм Джону понравился, а говорящему нет. Not my cup of tea означает «не по моему вкусу»; местоимение my уже дано.
- Речь о секрете: spill the beans значит «проболтаться». После don't употребляем начальную форму spill.
- Экзамен был очень лёгким: a piece of cake — «проще простого».
- Рассказам Хелен не следует безоговорочно верить: take something with a pinch of salt — «относиться скептически».
- Проигрыш уже произошёл: crying over spilt milk — «сожалеть о том, чего не изменить». После it's no use ставим -ing.
На рисунке мальчик плачет над разлитым молоком: это буквальное изображение последнего выражения. Близкие русские выражения: «слёзы делу не помогут», «после драки кулаками не машут».
