Complete the sentences by putting the verbs in each group into the Past Simple, the Past Continuous or the Past Perfect.

В каждой тройке формы различаются по ситуации: Past Simple для завершённого события, Past Continuous для процесса в момент другого действия, Past Perfect для более раннего результата.

When I went in — Пол разговаривал: was making. Затем после кофе сделал звонки: made. К концу дня успел сделать двадцать: had made.
Пока темнело, мальчики решили уйти: was getting. Когда стемнело, зажглись огни: got. К моменту возвращения уже стемнело: had got.
Студенты наблюдали, пока доктор проводил опыт: was performing. До открытия он провёл много опытов: had performed. Two weeks ago — обычное прошлое: performed.
Ребёнок уснул, как только его положили: fell. Во время засыпания он издавал звуки: was falling. К возвращению домой уже уснул: had fallen.
Перед сдачей отчёта много раз перечитала: had read. Во время чтения сломался компьютер: was reading. Затем прочла, выключила компьютер и ушла: read; написание read одинаково, но в прошлом произносится [red].
