Read the box, then look at the advert below. What type of letter would you write? What style should you write in? What information should you ask for?
Welcome TO Brighton SWIMMING CLUB. We offer lessons, year-round sea swimming/races, water polo. Lessons are every evening from 6 pm to 10 pm. All our trainers have ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) certification. New swimmers are accepted every Friday evening. For more information, email tonynewtown@hotmail.uk. Annual Subscription £25.00 per year. Notes on the advert: from what age? how long are they? what time? Same for all ages and activities?
Dear Mr Newtown, Could you please ...?, Yours sincerely. В косвенном вопросе сохраняем прямой порядок слов: how long the lessons are, а вопрос с ответом yes/no вводим if или whether.
I would write an email asking for information in a semi-formal style. I would ask what age children can start swimming lessons, how long the lessons are, what time new swimmers are accepted on Fridays and whether the annual fee is the same for all ages and activities.
