Languages of Russia
Russia is a multinational country, and more than a hundred languages are spoken there. Russian is the official language and the native language of most of the population. It is taught at all schools.
Tatar is spoken mainly in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, and roughly five million people speak it. It is an official language of Tatarstan together with Russian.
Chechen is spoken in the Chechen Republic in the North Caucasus. Interesting fact: it belongs to the Caucasian family, not to the Indo-European one.
Many small languages of the North, for example Nenets, are declining, so people try to teach them to children in some schools.
